1. Prepare the vehicle
Put the car in Park (P) and sit inside with your iPhone.
- Vehicle is in Park (P)
- Have the physical Tesla key card ready
- The regular initial vehicle setup is complete

2. Copy the VIN and add the vehicle
Open the official Tesla app, copy the 17-digit VIN and paste it into Tespit.

3. Confirm the key
Confirm the new vehicle key inside the car using the physical key card.

- Tespit then uses the local encrypted vehicle connection
No Tesla login required in Tespit.
Pairing happens locally over Bluetooth Low Energy and only has to be done once per vehicle. Tespit uses neither your Tesla account nor a cloud server of its own for this.
Model S and Model X built before 2021 don't have the required Bluetooth interface and are not supported.

The NFC reader sits in a different spot depending on model and model year. Choose your vehicle and see the correct position.

The app must be running and connected to the car. Routes may be incomplete in the background or with the screen locked. Consumption and calculated costs are estimates, not a complete or tax-certified mileage log.
No Tespit account or cloud sync for trips. Positions are sent to the map provider for maps and addresses. Daily exchange rates are fetched externally only with consent, without sending trip data. Enter Supercharger prices yourself.

October 28, 2026Tespit 1.1.16 brings wraps for the 3D car, 22 new languages, the odometer in km or mi, and more.
New
- Put your own wrap on the 3D car – use the same PNG file as in the car (Toybox › Paint Shop › Wrap). Available for all models: Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck. Trying it on is free; in the cockpit with Tespit Premium.
- Tespit is now available in 35 languages. There are 22 new languages: Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Portuguese (Portugal), Greek, Romanian, Slovak, Croatian, Slovenian, Ukrainian, Russian, Catalan, Korean, Japanese, Chinese (Traditional), Hebrew, Arabic, Thai, Malay, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Hindi. You can choose your language in Settings.
- Menus, settings and tours now run from right to left for Arabic and Hebrew. The cockpit stays left to right, because that's where the sides of the car are shown.
- Under units, you can now set the odometer separately from speed.
Improved
- The Halloween look switches off once. You can turn it back on in Settings.
Fixed
- The countdown to the price change always uses the Gregorian calendar, even if your device uses a different calendar.
